About Thomas Rhett

Thomas Rhett grew up with country music in his DNA. Born Thomas Rhett Akins Jr. in Valdosta, Georgia, he is the son of country singer-songwriter Rhett Akins, and was raised in Hendersonville, Tennessee, surrounded by Nashville's music community. He picked up drums in junior high and started performing onstage with his father before forming a high school band called The High Heeled Flip Flops. After briefly attending Lipscomb University in Nashville, he left college at 20 to pursue music full time and landed a publishing deal with Big Machine Label Group.

Before stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist, Thomas Rhett made his mark behind the scenes as a songwriter. He co-wrote tracks for Jason Aldean, Lee Brice, and Florida Georgia Line, building a reputation as one of Nashville's sharpest young writers. He signed a recording contract with Big Machine Records' Valory Music Group in 2011, and his debut single "Something to Do with My Hands" arrived in early 2012. From there, the trajectory moved fast. His third single, "It Goes Like This," topped the Country Airplay chart and set the tone for a career built on radio-dominating hooks and a sound that weaves country, pop, and R&B influences into something distinctly his own.

Across seven studio albums, from It Goes Like This (2013) through About a Woman (2024), Thomas Rhett has racked up 20 No. 1 singles on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. His live shows match the energy of his catalog, pulling from a deep bench of hits that range from uptempo anthems to stripped-down love songs. Whether headlining his own tours or joining bills alongside artists like Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs, he consistently delivers the kind of set that keeps country fans coming back.
