The Vaccines Background
The Vaccines burst onto the music scene with YouTube serving as their springboard. Freddie Cowan and Justin Hayward-Young initially started the band back in 2009. And it was in 2010 that they decided to post their "If You Wanna" demo, which proved to be a pivotal decision. The song instantly sent music enthusiasts into a tailspin, and The Vaccines attracted attention from people like Zane Lowe, an award-winning DJ. The Vaccines hit the road in the fall of 2010, crisscrossing the U.K. They ended up playing The Flowerpot, Kentish Town, to a sold-out crowd. The performance garnered enthusiastic reviews and Clash magazine billed it as "fantastic, exhilarating and exciting." Maintaining their momentum, The Vaccines were invited to perform on Later with Jools Holland. This event served as a milestone moment for the band as it was the first time that a group had ever graced the stage of the program before issuing a single! In the fall of 2010, The Vaccines dropped their first-ever double A-side track, "Wreckin' Bar (Ra Ra Ra)"/"Blow It Up." Only 1,000 copies were pressed. Nevertheless, Q magazine gave it the "Track of the Day" stamp. Following the release, The Vaccines toured the U.K. and simultaneously worked on their first album, What Did You Expect from The Vaccines? Come of Age followed a year later in 2012 and The Vaccines' latest album to drop is English Graffiti, which arrived in 2015.
