About The Red Clay Strays

The Red Clay Strays are a country rock band from Mobile, Alabama, formed in 2016. The group grew out of a local cover band, with lead singer Brandon Coleman, bassist Andrew Bishop, and guitarist Drew Nix regrouping around original songs before drummer John Hall and guitarist Zach Rishel completed the lineup. Their sound sits where Southern rock and country rock meet, with Coleman's lead vocals up front.

The band self-released its debut album, Moment of Truth, in April 2022, funded primarily through crowdfunding. The single "Wondering Why" became the breakout: after a live performance spread on TikTok in 2023, it reached the Billboard Hot 100, the group's first entry on the chart. A deal with RCA Records followed in 2024, along with a second album, Made by These Moments, produced by Dave Cobb. The band added keyboardist Sevans Henderson around that time and later recorded a live album at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

Onstage, the Red Clay Strays have played festivals including Lollapalooza and CMA Fest and opened stadium dates for The Rolling Stones, while headlining their own tours across the United States and Europe. The band built its following in small Southeastern venues, and that word-of-mouth rise still shapes the energy of its live shows.
