Steven Van Zandt, also known as Little Steven, has had a long and varied career that spans music, acting, songwriting, activism, teaching and much more. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, he received the Award for Musical Excellence due to his longtime contributions to Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. As a solo artist, he fronts Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul, which debuted in 1982 with Men Without Women, the group's first album that climbed to No. 118 on the Billboard 200. Since then, Little Steven has released albums on and off for nearly three decades, and in 2019, Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul released Summer of Sorcery, the group's first album of completely new material in 20 years. Little Steven and his bandmates are currently touring the country promoting the new album.Rock and Roll Icon
Born in 1950 in Boston, as Steven Lento, Little Steven took his stepfather's last name when his mother remarried in 1957, becoming Steven Van Zandt. He learned how to play the guitar at an early age, and he often watched performances by The Rolling Stones and the Beatles. Spending his teen years on the Jersey Shore, Van Zandt met Bruce Springsteen in the '60s at a club, and the two started performing together. In the '70s, he co-founded Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes and wrote most of the band's songs. Due to his success with Springsteen's E Street Band and Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Little Steven was approached with a record deal from EMI-America in 1981. From this deal came Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul. An enduring rock icon, Little Steven can often be seen wearing one of his trademark bandanas, a look he took on after a car accident that caused scarring on his head.Where can I buy Little Steven tickets?
