John Moreland tour dates

American singer-songwriter John Moreland came to prominence as a solo artist following the release of his debut studio album, Earthbound Blues, in 2011. Having supported fellow alt-country artists Jason Isbell on tour, the international star is now enthralling audiences with his heartfelt guitar-driven melodies on his own headline world tours. Moreland is also a regular on the festival circuit, having played at Forecastle Music Festival and Rhythm N' Blooms Music Festival.

John Moreland's background

Born in Longview, Texas, and raised in both Boone County, Kentucky, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, Moreland started playing the guitar at age 10 after receiving lessons from his father. He soon began penning his own tunes and played his first gig at around age 13.

Prior to releasing his own music, Moreland played in various punk and hardcore bands, including Black Gold Band with whom he released two studio albums, Endless Oklahoma Sky and Things I Can't Control. He also dropped the album Everything The Hard Way with the band The Dust Bowl Souls.

Moreland released his debut solo EP, Hope Springs Ephemeral, through the record label Memorial in 2010. That same year, he featured on the track "Abundance of Fluff" on Stephen Egerton's studio album, The Seven Degrees of Stephen Egerton.

In 2011, Moreland dropped his debut solo studio album, Earthbound Blues, through Memorial and a second EP, Me Back Apart / Blues & Kudzu, through Little Mafia Records. A second studio album, In The Throes, followed through Last Chance Records in 2013.

After teaming up with Austin Lucas to release a collaborative EP, Wax Packs, Moreland dropped a third solo studio album, High on Tulsa Heat, through Old Omens and Thirty Tigers in 2015. The album was recorded in Moreland's parent's home in Bixby, Oklahoma. A music video for the album track "Cherokee" was released to YouTube in April that same year. The video features Bingham Barnes from the rock band Glossary.

In 2017, Moreland released his fourth solo studio album, Big Bad Luv, through the independent record label 4AD. Several musicians provided vocals for the album, including Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith from the folk rock band Dawes and Carrie Ann Hearst and Michael Trent of folk duo Shovels and Rope.

After releasing the album, Moreland embarked on a headline world tour. The John Moreland tour kicked off in May 2017 and featured support from Colter Wall and Aaron Lee Tasjan.

Three of Moreland's album tracks, "Your Spell," "Heaven" and "Gospel," have featured on the American TV series Sons of Anarchy.
