Bob Schneider has attracted fans to his cross-genre folk rock since the mid-'90s, gathering acclaim both for his role as lead singer with the Ugly Americans and his solo work. Seasoned with improv and audience participation, Schneider's live shows are anything but cookie-cutter.

Bob Schneider's background

Although he originally enrolled at the University of Texas at El Paso with the intent of studying art, Bob Schneider ultimately dropped out to pursue music full time with his first band, the short-lived Joe Rockhead. Schneider continued to gain traction in music circles as the lead singer and songwriter for Ugly Americans. Part of the HORDE tour in 1994 and an opening act for Dave Matthews Band in 1995, Ugly Americans recorded a live album and a studio album before splitting up in 1998.

Schneider's subsequent work with The Scabs, a band he co-founded in the late '90s, shows an evolution that continues to be apparent in his subsequent solo music. From a beginning defined by bawdy show tunes and blues, the band transitioned into a powerhouse funk ensemble.

Bob Schneider's solo albums

Schneider's solo career took off with the 2001 album Lonelyland. The songs "Big Blue Sea" and "Metal and Steel" received significant radio play and, in 2004, Schneider followed with the album I'm Good Now released by Vanguard.

Schneider self-released Galaxy Kings and I've Seen the End of the World and It Looks Like This, as well as a Greatest Hits Live.

With more than a dozen albums to his name, Bob Schneider is a favorite of the Austin Music Awards. The Texan has won Band of the Year and Musician of the Year, as well as both Song and Album of the Year. He was also recognized as Male Vocalist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. His music has been featured in the soundtrack of movies ranging from Gunshy to Miss Congeniality.
