Mon Laferte is a Chilean-Mexican singer-songwriter whose voice carries the weight of bolero, the grit of alternative rock, and the warmth of Latin soul. Born Norma Monserrat Bustamante Laferte in Viña del Mar, Chile, she picked up a guitar at nine years old after winning a local music contest and never looked back. After honing her craft in the bars of Viña del Mar and Valparaiso, she moved to Mexico City in 2007, where she rebuilt her career from scratch and emerged as one of the most distinctive voices in Latin music.
Her breakthrough came with the 2015 album Mon Laferte, Vol. 1, anchored by the hit single "Tu Falta De Querer," which put her on the map across Latin America. Two years later, La Trenza became her most acclaimed release, earning multiple Latin Grammy nominations and producing "Amárrame" with Juanes, which won Best Alternative Song at the 18th Latin Grammys. With over 4.8 million album-equivalent units sold in Mexico, Mon Laferte holds the distinction of being the best-selling Chilean artist of the digital era. Her catalog spans eleven studio albums, from her 2003 debut La Chica de Rojo through 2023's Autopoiética, each one pulling from a different corner of the Latin music spectrum.
Beyond music, Mon Laferte is also a visual artist. In 2020, she debuted a solo exhibit called Gestos at the Museum of the City of Mexico, featuring 76 original art pieces. That creative range carries into her live performances, where melodramatic vocals and theatrical stage presence make every show feel like a one-of-a-kind experience.
