Ella Langley grew up in Hope Hull, Alabama, surrounded by music from the start. Born Elizabeth Camille Langley on May 3, 1999, she got her earliest training singing in Southern Baptist churches and picking up melodies during family jam sessions. After her grandfather passed, her father had his guitar restrung for her when she was 14, and that same night she taught herself to play by looking up the chords to Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds." She studied forestry at Auburn University before trading Alabama for Nashville in 2019, where she threw herself into the songwriting scene and started building a name through writers' rounds and independent country platforms.
Langley signed a publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing Nashville in 2021, then inked a record deal with Sony Music Nashville and Columbia Records in 2023, the same week she made her Grand Ole Opry debut. Her debut EP, Excuse the Mess, arrived in May 2023, and she spent the next year co-writing for other artists and opening for acts like Jon Pardi, Riley Green, and Morgan Wallen. Her full-length debut, Hungover, dropped in August 2024 and produced "You Look Like You Love Me" (featuring Riley Green), which earned Platinum certification and topped Country Airplay. Langley was the only woman in 2024 to reach No. 1 on that chart.
Her second album, Dandelion, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in April 2026, setting a record for the largest streaming debut for an album of new country material by a female country primary artist. The lead single "Choosin' Texas," co-written and co-produced with Miranda Lambert, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay simultaneously, making Langley the first female artist to top all three charts at once. The song spent 22 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100, tying for the longest-running chart-topper in US history. Langley draws on Southern rock, folk, and traditional country influences, citing Stevie Nicks and Willie Nelson as artistic touchstones, and channels all of it into a raw, unapologetic sound that connects with fans on a deeply personal level.
